The NJAFPA will offer $2,500 student grants to students from the regional areas of
South – Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties;
Central – Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset and Union Counties;
North – Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren Counties;

Criteria for Student Eligibility

Criteria for Student Eligibility: Eligibility should be based on local district standards as follows:
(a) Students must have participated in a least one State or Federally funded program such as Title I/ Chapter I, ESL/Bilingual or Basic Skills Improvement Program, at some point between pre-kindergarten and grade twelve.

(b) Student’s academic performance for grades 9, 10, and 11 should be average or above based on local district standards (transcript).

(c) Student recommended should show a definite financial need and this should be confirmed by the school district recommending the student.

(d) Student should have demonstrated good citizenship in school, extracurricular activities and/or community activities such as church, scouts, 4H, etc.

(e) Only grade 12 students are to be recommended.


Selection Process

(a)     Selection of eligible students from each district should be based on above criteria and not on race, sex, religion or ethnic origin.

(b)     Each district with an association member(s) is eligible to participate.

(c)     Recommended students’ names and all pertinent information concerning the student and local school district must be accurately and thoroughly completed on the NJAFPA form.

(d)     The enclosed application must be completed by an NJAFPA member and forwarded for receipt on or before February 10, 2017 your region representative:

Award Procedure

(a)     The selected students, his/her parents, and local school officials will be notified by the NJAFPA Scholarship Committee by March 31, 2016.

(b)     The parents, students and local school officials will be invited by the Association President to join us at the spring NJAFPA General Membership Meeting.

Payment of Student Grant

a) In order to collect this scholarship, each winner must present to NJAFPA by October 31, 2017:

1. A receipt showing that payment in full has been made for the fall semester,


2. A letter from the School Registrar’s Office indicating full time status.

b)  A check will be issued to the student when the association receives verification of attendance in a post high school institution.
